LGBTQ youth in the United States South often receive little or no inclusive sexual and reproductive health care education in school. This lack of education can be bridged with a knowledgeable health workforce. This training includes information on key components to providing sexual and reproductive health care to LGBTQ youth: understanding and addressing specific barriers to care, how to create safe spaces for LGBTQ youth, and LGBTQ-specific sexual and reproductive health information. Providing LGBTQ-specific education to youth builds youths’ autonomy and protects youths’ physical and mental health. Public health workers in any realm will benefit from this training.
